Now we are going to add an Insert FX to the audio output from the CM101 VSTi. Note that several MIDI tracks can be routed to the same VSTi and all those tracks would be affected by the Insert FX.
First of all, click (or right-click) on the CM101's Audio port (this is the number at the right-hand end of the VU meter in the Sequencer Mixer), select Add Insert, and navigate down your VST folder tree to the desired VST FX.
I am using Kjaerhus Audio's Classic EQ. You can download it from KvR. But you can use any suitable insert FX.

The Insert FX appears in the Mixer below the VST Instrument's audio output controls.
You can disable/enable the FX by clicking the Power button in front of the name and you can open it for editing by double-clicking its name, or by right-clicking the FX name, then selecting Edit.

The value shown in the box to the right of the FX name is the Wet/Dry level (100 indicates "Drenched" - 100% wet). These controls are followed by a set of preset controls for the FX.
Insert FXs are inserted "pre-fader". Just take a few minutes to try out the Insert FX controls for yourself.
You can also add an Insert FX to a Sequencer Master audio output, by right-clicking on the audio port in the Master section.

And here is the Mixer with the two Insert FX: Cyanide on the Sequencer Master output and Classic EQ on the CM101 VSTi.

While we are here, just click the first button at the top of the Mixer. You will see that the Insert FX sections are no longer displayed in the Mixer. Click it again and they are redisplayed. And, as you may have worked out, the second button does the same for Send FX.

The drop-down list next to these buttons controls which components are shown in the Mixer. You can choose to:
- show all sections - each mixer section may be open or closed,
- show selected sections only - mixer sections are shown only for those components that are selected in the Main window and each section may be open or closed,
- show sections automatically - all mixer sections are shown, sections are opened only for those components that are selected in the Main window.
