Setting up the MIDI Part Comp Output
to add another MIDI output port - File >> Add MIDI Port
to connect the part to an output port - drag the Port number up or down
to set the MIDI channel to be used for the part - drag the Ch number up or down (-- = channel 01)
Managing MIDI Parts
to create a new part - Part >> New
to select a part for editing - select the part from the drop-down list
to rearrange the order of the MIDI parts - right-click the name in the Performer panel >> Move up
to delete a part - Part >> Delete
to name or rename a part - Part >> Rename,
or right-click the name in the Performer panel >> Rename
to change the length of the part - drag the Beats value up/down
to pass incoming MIDI notes and CC messages through, or not - select On/Off from the Thru drop-down list
Views
to view/hide the Performer panel - File >> Performer, or Ctrl+p
Setting the Loop
to set the Start of Loop position - click in the song position bar
to set the End of Loop position - right-click in the song position bar
Recording MIDI Notes or MIDI CC Events
- - All recordings loop around until the end event is reached
to set the loop start/end points - click/right-click the top row of song position bar at the top of the grid
to set the start recording song position - click the second row of song position bar at the top of the grid
to start Recording - Rec, or * on numeric pad
- - the Rec button is on the performer panel
- - recording starts from the current song position.
to capture the notes - play in the notes from your keyboard, or other MIDI source
to capture the MIDI CC events - adjust the controls on your MIDI keyboard, or other MIDI source
to stop Recording - Rec, or Play/Stop, or * on numeric pad

Managing MIDI Part presets
- - you can save one (or all MIDI Parts in a MIDI Part comp) into a nominated folder.
- - you can then load them back into a MIDI Part
to select the MIDI Part preset folder - File >> Open >> Folder, browse to the desired folder, select it, OK
to add a folder to the MIDI Part presets favourites list - File >> Open >> Browse, browse to the desired folder, right-click, Add to favourites
to remove a folder from the MIDI Part presets favourites list - File >> Open >> Browse, click the Favourites button [...] >> Remove, select the desired folder
- - you can also use File >> Save all or Save part
to load a MIDI Part preset -File >> Open and select the desired MIDI Part preset from the list,
or File >> Open >> Browse, browse to the desired folder, select the desired MIDI Part preset, OK,
or File >> Open >> Browse, click the Favourites button [...], select the desired folder, select the desired file, OK
to save the currently-selected MIDI Part - File >> Save part, browse to the desired folder, enter the desired name for this file, OK,
or File >> Save part, click the Favourites button [...], select the desired folder, select the desired file, OK
to save all the MIDI Parts - File >> Save all, browse to the desired folder, enter the desired name for this file, OK,

Performing MIDI Parts
to View/Hide the Performer - File >> Show Performer, or Ctrl+p
to open/close the Part’s Performer strip - click the box/bar at the right-hand end of the Part strip title bar
to connect the Part to an output port - drag the Port number up or down
to set the MIDI channel to be used for the Part - drag the Ch number up or down (-- = 01)

Playing Parts
- - All parts play in a loop until the end event is reached
to play/stop a part - click the Play arrow in the Part’s Performer strip
to play/stop a part (for the first 9 Parts) - 1 to 9
to play/stop the current part - Enter, or 0, or Spacebar
to synchronise/unsynchronise the part - drag Sync to On/Off
- - the playing of the part is synchronised with the eXT Master Synchroniser
to stop playing immediately - set FR (Full Release) to Off
- - playing stops when the end event is received
to stop at the next end of the loop - set FR (Full Release) to On
- - playing stops at the next end of the loop after the end event is received
Triggering Parts
to set the part to play on a note -
select Note on/off from the Trigger-type drop-down list
and drag the note value to the desired note,
or (MIDI Learn) Ctrl+click the note value,
or middle-click it
then play the desired note on your MIDI keyboard or send it from another MIDI source
- - playing starts when a note is received and stops when the note stops
to set the part to play/stop on a Note On-
select Note toggle from the Trigger-type drop-down list
and drag the note value to the desired note, or
or (MIDI Learn) Ctrl+click the note value,
or middle-click it
then play the desired note on your MIDI keyboard or send it from another MIDI source
- - playing starts when a note is received and stops when the same note is received again
to set the part to play on a CC message -
select CC on/off from the Trigger-type drop-down list
and drag the CC message number to the desired value
or (MIDI Learn) Ctrl+click the CC message number,
or middle-click it
then adjust the CC control on your MIDI keyboard or send it from another MIDI source
- - playing starts when a CC message for that number with a value more than 0 is received and stops when a CC message for that number with a value of 0 is received
to set the part to play/stop on a CC message-
select CC toggle from the Trigger-type drop-down list,
and
drag the CC message number to the desired value
or (MIDI Learn) Ctrl+click the CC message number,
or middle-click it
then adjust the CC control on your MIDI keyboard or send it from another MIDI source
- - playing starts when a CC message for that number with a value more than 0 is received and stops playing when a second CC message for that same number is received
- - trigger notes or CC events may be received from a MIDI keyboard or another comp
- - in toggle mode, you will need to send an even number of triggers, otherwise the Part would play forever
- - CC toggle mode, from the MIDI keyboard, needs careful movement of your control
Play Groups and Mute Groups
to play/stop several parts at once - drag the Play value for each of the parts to the same Play Group value (1…64)
- - if you start playback of a part, all other parts in the same play group will also start, when you stop playback of a part, all other parts in the same play group will also stop
to remove a part from a play group - drag the Play value to Off
to play/stop one part at a time in a group of several parts once - drag the Mute value for each of the parts to the same Mute Group value (1…64)
- - if you start playback of a part, all other parts in the same mute group will be stopped; if FR is On, the new part will not start playback until the current part is played to the end
to remove a part from a mute group - drag the Mute value to Off
