Sequencer - Arrange View

- - this section describes the Sequencer Arrange view, in 3 areas:

Views and Modes

What functions have Shortcut keys?

to enable/disable the Click - b
to switch the Snap mode between absolute and relative - d
to switch Snap between 4/4 time and triplets - t
to toggle Snap on/off - x
to switch to the next Snap size - z, or < and >
to scroll horizontally continuously - , and . keys
to zoom in/out relative to the current song position - the + or - keys
to view all selected parts - Ctrl and +

to display the next Arrangement view mode - Ctrl+p
- - there are 3 Arrangement view modes: Single, Multi (with Playlist), Live (with Live Triggering panel)

Which keys are Shortcut keys, and what do they do?

b - to enable/disable the Click
d - to switch the Snap mode between absolute and relative

What can the Mouse do?

to scroll horizontally - rotate mouse wheel when over the Arrange Grid

to zoom in/out continuously relative to the current song position - drag the middle horizontal Zoom button
to zoom in/out relative to the current mouse position - mouse-wheel, when over the song position bar (loop/position),
or Ctrl+mouse-wheel, when over the song position lane,
or Ctrl+mouse-wheel, when over the Arrange Grid
- - if the start position is at the left-hand side of the window, then the view expands/contracts to the right
to jump to the start of the variation - right-click the horizontal scroll bar
to view the whole variation - double-click middle Zoom

to expand the track for editing In-track - e
to collapse the track to standard view - e
to show/hide the tracks (and folders) in a folder - e
to switch between standard and minimised track view - h (Height)
to mute/unmute the track, or all the tracks in the folder - m
to solo/unsolo the track, or all the tracks in the folder - s

to arm the audio or MIDI track for recording - r

to select the next/previous track - Down/Up arrow
to freeze a track - Ctrl+f
to unfreeze a frozen track - Ctrl+f
to add a new track, of the same type as that selected - Ctrl+Insert
to delete a track - Ctrl+Delete
to open the Instrument GUI for the current track - Ctrl+Spacebar
- - for MIDI tracks and Envelopes only
to duplicate a track - Ctrl+Shift+d

Which keys are Shortcut keys, and what do they do?

e - to expand the track (for editing In-track) and to return to standard track view,
or for a folder track, to show/hide the tracks (and folders) in the folder
h - to switch between standard and minimised track view
m - to mute/unmute the track, or all the tracks in the folder
p - to enable/disable note preview
r - to arm the audio or MIDI track for recording
s - to solo/unsolo the track, or all the tracks in the folder
Down/Up arrow - to select the next/previous track
Ctrl+e - to edit a Part in a pop-up window
Ctrl+f - to freeze a track or to unfreeze a frozen track
Ctrl+Insert - to add a new track, of the same type as that selected
Ctrl+Delete - to delete a track
Ctrl+Spacebar - to open the Instrument GUI for the current track

Ctrl+Shift+d - to duplicate a track

What can the Mouse do?

to switch between standard and In-track editing view - double-click the track header
to change the height of the track in In-track editing mode - drag the lower edge of the track header up or down

Managing Tracks

to select a track and get the pop-up menu - right-click the track header
to expand/contract the width of the track headers - drag the divider between the track headers and the Arrange grid to the right/left
to add a new track, of the same type as that selected - double-click below the last track header
to add a new MIDI track - double-click in an empty area of the Grid
to add a new MIDI track and a Sampler instrument- - drag a Sampler preset (.xts file) or a SoundFont preset or Instrument from the eXT browser into the Arrange Window
- - Sampler presets can also be dragged from a Windows Explorer window
to relocate a track - drag it to the desired position, including into and out of a folder
to expand the track (for editing In-track) - double-click track header,
or right-click the Track Header, Edit
- - not for marker tracks

Managing Folders

to open (for selecting tracks) or close folder - double-click the track header,
or click box/bar icon, at end of the folder track header

- - a "part" is a MIDI part, Audio part, Envelope or Marker

What functions have Shortcut keys?

to select the next/previous part - Right/Left arrow
- - using the arrows is useful when parts overlap in time
to select several parts - Shift+Left/Right arrow
to select all parts, envelopes and markers in the Arrangement - Ctrl+a
to invert the current selection or parts, envelopes and markers - Ctrl+i
to split a part - Alt+right-click
to glue two or more parts - Ctrl+g
to mute/unmute the selected part(s) - Ctrl+m
- - muting an Envelope part disables it
- - muting a Marker mutes all those parts associated with the marker, if Auto Group select is on
to change the length of selected part(s) - Alt+Right/Left arrow
to resize selected part(s) to fill window horizontally - Ctrl and +
- - if no parts are selected, then this displays the whole Arrangement
to delete selected part(s) - Delete
to create a ghost part - Ctrl+drag
to create a ghost part - Ctrl+c, move to destination point, Ctrl+v
to create a ghost part, after the selected part - Ctrl+d
to unghost a part - Ctrl+u
to create an independent copy of a part - Shift+Ctrl+drag
to edit a part in a pop-up window - Ctrl+e

Delete - to delete selected part(s)
Right/Left arrow - to select the next/previous part

Alt+right-click - to split a part
Alt+Right/Left arrow - to change the length of part(s)
Ctrl+a - to select all parts, envelopes and markers in the Arrangement
Ctrl+c, move to destination point, Ctrl+v - to create a ghost part in the same track or in another track
Ctrl+drag - to create a ghost part
Ctrl+d - to create a ghost part, after the selected part
Ctrl+e - to edit a part in a pop-up window
Ctrl+g - to glue two or more parts
Ctrl+i - to invert the current selection of parts, envelopes and markers
Ctrl+m - to mute/unmute the selected part(s)
- - muting an Envelope part disables it

What can the Mouse do?

Select, Rename, Add and Delete Parts

- in the In-track Edit view, you need to click the top edge (6 pixels) of the part to select it
to select a part - click it to select several parts - Shift+click the parts,
or lasso them
to unselect one part when several items are selected - Shift+click it
to add a new part, anywhere, 1-bar long - double-click at insertion position
to edit a part In-track - double-click the Track header,
to collapse an In-track edit, returning to the standard track view - double-click track header
to change the height of the track in In-track mode - drag the lower edge of the track header up or down

Move, Resize and Stretch Parts

to move selected part(s) - drag anywhere other than the right end (last 6 pixels) of the part
- - you can drag the part(s) to another track, including into and out of folders

to change the length of part(s) - drag the start or the end of the part(s)
to stretch a part and its contents - Shift+drag the right-hand edge of the part
- - the size of the part changes, the notes, MIDI CC events or audio clips are repositioned and note lengths are changed in proportion
- - individual audio clips are repositioned, but the clips themselves are NOT timestretched

Copy and Paste Parts

to create a ghost - Ctrl+drag
to create an independent copy of a Part - Shift+Ctrl+drag

Split, Glue and Edit Parts

to split a part - Alt+right-click
to edit a part in a pop-up window - double-click the part
to edit a part In-track - double-click track header
to collapse an In-track edited part - double-click track header
